Remote Remote History

In 1991, it was decided that a recording truck would be a perfect compliment to DESIGN FX AUDIO. After purchasing the original RECORD PLANT TRUCK, a full scale remodel was done with the technical expertise of Jack Crymes, who also designed a Wally Heider truck as well as the Record Plant Trucks, along with technical support from Alan Baca and the carpentry skills of Dave Mailand. The truck was ready for the 1991 MTV Music Awards, a live broadcast from the Universal Amphitheater. The truck was later moved onto an INTERNATIONAL cab that has taken our crew from Vancouver B.C. to Mexico City and many points in between. In 1994 we decided to upgrade our classic API console. Once again, Jack Crymes, a pioneer in remote recording for the past 25 years joined forces with API specialists, John Dressel and Jeff Bork and the Design FX crew to design a custom API input module, designed especially for live recording. The goal was to make a console that is user friendly as well as very versatile, and we did. With our extensive background, DESIGN FX REMOTE can confidently say we have done it all. Since the establishment of DESIGN FX REMOTE the truck has been busy putting classic moments on audio tape (whether it be digital or analog!). Some of these include shows with the Eagles at the Rose Bowl and Irvine Meadows on the "Hell Freezes -Over Tour", The Academy Awards, Aerosmith, .........etc. In the last few years we've provided our mobile facility for television productions which have been nominated for 5 Emmys and won an Emmy for BEST SOUND FOR A SPECIAL (Natalie Cole's-Unforgettable With Love). We've also been nominated for several TEC Awards (Technical Excellence & Creativity) including the 1997 nominee for Best Remote Recording Facility. Design FX Remote also won a Golden Reel Award for Neil Young's "MTV-Unplugged" CD.
